muchness (translation cycle)
2015. Dispersion & MX dyes, synthetic & natural fabric, thread, paper, digital collage, plastic letters. Installation photographs by Ryan Lowry.
A series of collaborative translations with/through a digital embroidery machine and a heat press in which we passed imagery back and forth, interpreting what we thought the other wanted us to do with each turn, and in which mechanical and natural systems reached something of an imperfect equilibrium, and we all had to spend some time away from one another to figure out what we had made.
MONOLITH I and SOILED appeared alongside work by Jenn Smith and Jaclyn Mednicov in SAMUEL's inaugural show, Surface Layers. Chicago, IL. April 8, 2016. Curated by Veronica Sines.
